Smitha Chundakkad

Smitha is a Research Assistant in our Germplasm Resources Unit.

She assists with seed stocktaking and carrying out germination test to check the viability of seeds.

As a part of the regeneration programme, Smitha germinates and grows plants in the green house and assists with bagging to prevent cross pollination, phenotyping and harvesting.

She is also responsible for taking DNA samples from the growing seedlings to add to the database and using the Marvin machine to determining the seed size and also analysis of protein, fibre and starch content of seeds using Near Infra Red(NIR) machine.
