Historic Collections

Preserving and promoting the history of scientific knowledge, in support of bioscience research, engagement and learning.

The John Innes Centre is home to an internationally significant collection of rare botanical books, a History of Genetics library and a unique Archive capturing records on the history of science and genetics. Together, the collections represent over 500 years of understanding about the natural world, plants and microbiology.

Supported by the John Innes Foundation, the collections are used to enhance research, communications, engagement and education.
