Ramsankar Chandrasekar
Postdoctoral ScientistRamsankar is currently working as part of the Sablowski lab, studying how the size of a plant cell can influence its destiny within the grand design of plant development.
Using the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana, Ramsankar investigates how cell size shapes the crucial decisions cells make during reproduction — choices that ultimately determine a plant’s ability to grow, adapt, and continue its life cycle. Through live imaging, he observes these intricate events unfolding in real time, following cells as they grow, divide, and take on their specialised roles. His goal is to uncover the mechanisms that link a cell’s growth to its fate — insights that could not only deepen our understanding of plant reproductive development, but also inspire innovative strategies to enhance crop resilience and productivity.
