Petra Merzan

Petra is currently working within the Sablowski lab.

Cell size is a fundamental characteristic of cells, representing a balance between growth and division. Petra’s work focuses on understanding how cells control their size in the shoot apical meristem, and the reasons behind this regulation. She aims to explore the cellular consequences of size divergence during the cell cycle through confocal imaging.

Petra is particularly interested in determining whether size control is driven by the need for tissue uniformity or other factors, such as DNA damage and repair.
