Noah Turner

Postdoctoral Scientist

Noah has a background in using electron microscopy to determine structures, and investigate the function, of biological molecules important to the health of cells.

His research in Michael Webster’s lab uses electron microscopy to study how plant cells synthesise, repair and renew the protein components of the chloroplast photosynthetic machinery. By using electron microscopy to study 1) how chloroplast ribosomes translate photosynthetic genes into proteins, and 2) how this process is affected by environmental factors, the group hopes to obtain insight into how plants are able to grow despite the ever-changing conditions of the environment in which they are rooted. Ultimately, it is hoped that this may guide future efforts to grow robust crops that can withstand the challenges posed by climate change.
