Nathan Williams

Postgraduate Researcher

Nathan is researching tandem kinase protein immune receptors in grasses.

Tandem kinase proteins (TKPs) are an emerging class of intracellular immune receptors and underpin resistance to many commercially significant pathogens of crops. Some of these proteins have additional domains which act as sensors to detect pathogen secreted proteins.

Nathan is studying the molecular mechanisms underpinning this recognition, with the aim of developing new ways to engineer the plant immune system using TKPs.
