Dr Martin Vickers

Senior Scientist

Martin is a Senior Scientist at the John Innes Centre, Norwich working in Computational and Systems Biology department as a member of the Informatics platform. He works on a variety of genomics projects, most recently involving Pisum sativum, Marchantia, Wheat and Brassica. He’s been heavily involved in infrastructure procurement (GPU/HPC compute and distributed storage), sits on the Scientific Computing Committee and Research Computing Operations Groups, as well as leading the development of Remote Sensing capability for plant phenotyping using drones.

Prior to this, Martin was a Post Doctoral Scientist working in Xiaoqi Feng’s group as part of the Cell & Developmental Biology group exploring the epigenetic factors involved with the RdDM pathway in Arabidopsis.

Before moving to Norwich, he was the Data Manager/HPC Systems Administrator at the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) at Aberystwyth University. He built and managed the research computing facilities including the High Performance Computing cluster, hypervisor cluster and storage repository.
