Luzie works as a Quantitative Geneticist in Simon Griffiths team.
The group studies height and flowering time in bread wheat and the genes which control the interaction between these traits to influence yield.
Luzie works on the computational side of the large scale screening of wheat lines, which is undertaken in the group.
She uses mapping techniques to identify QTL (quantitative trait loci) to link traits of interest to regions in the wheat genome and she identifies genetic markers that can be used to track these genomic regions.
Furthermore, Luzie does the statistical evaluation of the near isogenic lines (NILs) that result from backcrossing interesting genomic regions into a common genetic background.
