Luiz Alfredo

Luiz is a PhD candidate in Microbiology at the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and a Visiting Postgraduate Researcher at the John Innes Centre.

His research focuses on the structural and functional characterisation of enzymes and genes involved in the production of polyketide antibiotics by Streptomyces species. Using structural biology, biochemistry and molecular biology approaches, Luiz seeks to understand the molecular mechanisms that govern natural product biosynthesis.
