Postgraduate ResearcherJune is a PhD researcher on the Wellcome Trust-funded EDESIA: Plants, Food & Health programme in the Balk and Uauy labs.
Her research explores iron speciation, bioaccessibility, and absorption in biofortified wheat lines. Before starting her PhD, she completed a Master’s in Food Science with focus on Applied Human Nutrition at the University of the Philippines Los Baños and gained extensive experience in food safety, product development, and grain quality through roles at the International Rice Research Institute and in the food industry. The results of her research aims to help develop strategies for using biofortified wheat in food systems in the UK and globally.
