Franziska Hoerbst

Postgraduate Researcher

In the vascular system of plants water, minerals and nutrients are transported through the organism.

Interestingly, also different kinds of RNA and proteins have been evidenced there. Unfortunately, without any big flashing sign giving information about sender, mission or destination.

In collaboration with Julia Kehr (University of Hamburg, Germany) and Friedrich Kragler (Max Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology, Golm, Germany) the PLAMORF consortium is formed to unite experts in the field of cell biology and cellular transport in order to understand these travelling processes of macromolecular biomolecules.

Which macromolecules are travelling? Why are they travelling? What makes a molecule travel? – There is much to discover.

Apart from that, science communication plays a major role in Franziska’s life. Check out 5MinutenClimateChance – a climate science communication podcast she founded with Austrian colleagues.
