Emily is based within the Wilkinson group.

Her research is focused around antibacterial natural products from rare species of Actinomycetota bacteria. She is particularly interested in two families of antibiotic compounds which are able to fight clinically important bacteria in a novel way.

Emily employs an interdisciplinary approach using a range of molecular biology, analytical chemistry and biochemical techniques in order to gain an insight into the biosynthesis and mechanism of action of these antibiotics and unlock their potential.
