The transcriptional repressor Flowering Locus C (FLC), which is involved in delaying flowering time, is epigenetically silenced by exposure to cold in a process called vernalization.

The Polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2) as well as multiple PRC2 accessory proteins are required to switch FLC to a silenced state.

Using the well-explored FLC system in Arabidopsis, Anna is investigating the core events underlying epigenetic switching mechanisms.
