Adam Allen

Postdoctoral Scientist

Adam is working on DNA topoisomerase VI: a novel target for herbicides and antimalarial drugs.

His passion for biochemistry, particularly protein chemistry, has led his research interest into the expression, purification and structural and functional characterisation of DNA-binding proteins.

Adam’s current research concerns the characterisation of topo VI, a type II DNA topoisomerase, to elucidate its role in plants and Apicomplexa.

In collaboration with Syngenta he is testing inhibitory compounds against Arabidopsis topo VI and Plasmodium topo VI to aid the development of herbicide and anti-malarial agents, respectively.
