Inside Science 2011 took place from the 27th to 29th September 2011. Sixteen enthusiastic pupils were chosen from nine schools across Norfolk and Suffolk to gain an insight to the science carried out on the Norwich Research Park.
The Norwich Bioscience Institutes invited gifted and talented pupils to spend three days on an intensive workshop, hearing about the research we do first hand, meeting students, post-docs and research assistants explaining exactly what it is like to work in science.
The pupils carried out experiments with Scanning Electron Microscopes as well as spending time in the insectary, mass spectrometry, GM and genome analysis centre laboratories.
May I thank you and all your colleagues for making the Inside Science workshop both possible and a wonderful experience for 2 of our girls last week. They both had a brilliant time and came back full of their experiences to share with the staff here – it has really got them excited about science even more than they were before – and what a fantastic opportunity it was.
Head of Science, Ipswich High School.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Inside Science workshop last week. I think that the programme does an excellent job communicating both the importance and the urgency of the work being done and related work elsewhere. I feel very privileged to have attended.
