Miles Curl

Postgraduate Researcher Designing Future Wheat

Miles’ postgraduate research project focuses on comparing transcriptional networks regulating drought tolerance and senescence in bread wheat, investigating potential shared genetic pathways, and identifying genetic resources for use in breeding programmes.

For this, Miles is implementing a combination of computational and molecular biological methods, along with field trials across Europe. The research is carried out in collaboration with RAGT Seeds Ltd, KWS UK Ltd and Limagrain UK Ltd.

Prior to his postgraduate research, Miles worked at Tropic, a Norwich-based plant biotechnology company. He gained his undergraduate degree from the University of Reading, studying Biological Sciences, which included professional experience at PepsiCo.
