Melissa Davie

Postgraduate Researcher

Microbial natural products are of great value to the pharmaceutical industry and provide a reservoir of potential antibiotic compounds, important in this age of rising antimicrobial resistance.

Melissa’s interests lie in the discovery, biosynthesis of microbial natural products and their mode of action as therapeutic compounds.

She is currently working on characterising the mode of action of a natural product antibiotic on its molecular target using a variety of techniques including X-ray crystallography, mass spectrometry, molecular biology and bioassays.
