Dr Mar Marzo

Mar has joined Professor Saskia Hogenhout lab to find out how aphids manage to invade different plants and trasmit plant diseases that affect crops and food production.

She has a PhD in Genetics and Evolution and has worked with Transposable Elements (TEs) in Drosophila genomes (fruit flies). She is also interested in how genomes evolve and rearrange and how TEs affect host evolution. Aphids are a very interesting insect group which has more and more genomic data available, which she will be analysing within the Hogenhout group
