Dr Julie Hofer
Postdoctoral ScientistJulie is studying the impact of mutations affecting chlorophyll metabolism in pea.
Several types of mutation exist, affecting chlorophyll biosynthesis and degradation. Julie is using a wide range of natural variants, curated in the John Innes Centre Germplasm Resources Unit.
The Domoney group have obtained draft genomic sequences for nine John Innes Centre pea accessions, which Julie is comparing with the Pisum reference genome and is gaining an understanding of how retroelements affect the expression of specific genes.
