Gurpinder Singh Sidhu

Postgraduate Researcher

Gurpinder is working to understand the genetic mechanisms that underpin the floral transition within the cultivated Brassicas.

Cultivated species of Brassica oleracea, Brassica napus and Brassica rapa are closely related to the model species Arabidopsis and thus provide an interesting opportunity to transfer knowledge about floral transitions from model plants to crop species.

Their work currently focuses on Brassica napus and transcriptomic analysis of its different winter, semi-winter and spring cultivars.

This work provides useful insights to plant breeders to develop Brassica varieties better suited to changing climate conditions.
