Giuseppe Tomasi

Postgraduate Researcher

Giuseppe is studying the moonlighting role of cyclins outside the core cell cycle regulation in plants.

Cyclins are a wide family of proteins who are differentially expressed in the plant tissues but, for the great part, their role is still unknown.

In other nonplant organisms it was demonstrated that some cyclins, homologous to the plant P-type cyclins, are expressed in the metabolic pathways activated in response to nutrient shortage.

Giuseppe wants to understand if the P-type cyclins have a similar role in the coordination of nutrient stress and organ development in plant.
