Throughout the academic year, the John Innes Centre hosts a weekly programme of seminars with internationally significant plant and microbial scientists.
These seminars are held in the John Innes Conference Centre, and are open to scientists at the John Innes Centre and partner institutes on the Norwich Research Park.
The Friday Seminars at JIC have been running for many years and attract speakers from across all areas of the plant science world. Over the years visiting speakers have included:
- Professor Susan McCouch
- Dr Barbara Valent
- Professor Craig Crews
- Professor Miltos Tsiantis
- Professor Beat Keller
- Professor Colin Kleanthous
In 2000, the Friday seminar programme was enhanced with the addition of ‘Named Lectures.’ These six lectures are held in honour of people significant in the history of the John Innes Centre, and include the prestigious biennial Bateson Lecture which was first held in 1951 in honour of the first Director, William Bateson.
Many of the lecturers also sit for a portrait during their visit. View Portraits
