Applications are invited for a Science Support Administrator to join the John Innes Centre.
The John Innes Centre is an independent, international centre of excellence in plant science, genetics and microbiology.
We are seeking a Science Support Administrator to support the Biological Chemistry and Molecular Microbiology Departments. This role supports scientists delivering world-leading research.
The post holder will be given diverse tasks and must be flexible because the demands of the job will vary considerably. Examples of work include the following:
- Organising meetings and events on behalf of department staff, including the Young Microbiologists Symposium
- Liaising between departments to ensure personnel, financial and management information is provided (in both directions) efficiently and accurately
- Making travel arrangements for members of the departments, on request
- Maintenance of confidential personnel information
- Managing office equipment.
The ideal candidate
Applicants are expected to have seven GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths, and recent experience of working as an administrator in a busy environment. They should possess skills in minute taking, diary management and making travel bookings. Good communication skills and the ability to manage a constantly changing workload are essential.
Salary on appointment will be within the range £24,300 to £29,750 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a fulltime, maternity cover contract expected to last 6 months, but may be shorter or longer depending on when the absent employee returns to work.
