An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Technician to join a growing technology platform at one of the world’s leading plant research institutes.
The Genotyping and DNA Extraction service is one of several on site technology platforms offering scientific services to scientists both at the John Innes Centre and external institutes.
It operates as part of Dr Simon Griffiths’ research group.
Working as part of a team, you will assist in the running of our Genotyping and DNA Extraction service.
This diverse role will provide you with a broad range of stimulating activities, including:
- DNA extraction from leaf material
- Setting up and running KASP SNP genotyping reactions, and scoring results
- Liaise with customers to plan jobs and troubleshoot issues
In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in molecular biology and gain experience operating robotic equipment.
You will also work with world leading scientists who are experts in their field.
The ideal candidate
You will have an A-Level (or equivalent qualification) in a science subject, as well as GCSEs grades A*-C (or equivalent qualifications) in English, Maths and Science.
You will have a keen interest in plant science and experience of working in a customer service environment.
Experience of working in a molecular biology laboratory is desirable, but not essential.
