Biomolecular Analysis

Chemistry

Our Chemistry platform provides expertise and staff training in various aspects of organic chemistry to scientists across the Norwich Research Park, and commercial partners.

The team, in our state-of-the-art laboratory can offer;

  • Infrastructure for chemical synthesis or custom synthesis
  • Compound purification
  • Compound characterisation (with NMR, Proteomics and Metabolomics)
  • Natural product isolation
  • Structure elucidation (with NMR)
  • Biotransformation
  • Bioconjugation
  • Enzyme assay development
  • Infrastructure for safe handling and work with organic solvents and other hazardous chemicals
  • Complex analytical sample preparation requiring organic solvent extraction, solvent partitioning or solid phase extraction (with Metabolomics)
  • Synthesis of internal standards or target analytes as reference for analysis (with Metabolomics)

The Chemistry Platform equipment and infrastructure at the John Innes Centre, include;

  • Dionex Ultimate 3000 HPLC, analytical or semi-preparative, equipped with UV/vis or charged aerosol detectors
