The Chemistry platform provides expertise, services and staff training in several aspects of organic chemistry to research scientists and commercial partners.

The platform can help with a diverse range of projects. The capabilities cover custom synthesis of enzyme substrates, inhibitors, chemical probes, biosynthetic intermediates, or synthesis of analytical standards including stable isotope labelling for Mass Spectrometry and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance applications.

The expert team is able to isolate and purify natural products and, in conjunction with other platforms, the Chemistry team can elucidate the structure of new chemical entities, identify impurities and conduct chemical composition characterisation.

Using a state-of-the-art laboratory, the team can perform metabolic profiling studies where complex extraction protocols must be developed and/or performed and authentic standard syntheses are required.

The team members are experienced at working with very polar compounds and have expertise in sugar nucleotide synthesis and intracellular profiling of polar metabolites.

Compound Purification

Our chemistry platform can support your research with our purification technologies. We will suggest an efficient separation method. Depending on the objective and required purity we will optimize the method and perform preparative purification using our preparative LC systems. Our services include:

• Natural product isolation
• Compound quality control

Infrastructure

Our state-of-the-art laboratory offers infrastructure for visitors to perform chemistry related tasks, such as:

• Infrastructure for safe handling and work with organic solvents and other hazardous chemicals
• Infrastructure for chemical synthesis
• Complex analytical sample preparation requiring organic solvent manipulation and/ or solid phase extraction

Training

The Chemistry team offers training in the use of our equipment to enable customers to run experiments themselves
