Suzi Pearce

Postgraduate Researcher

Suzi is interested in engineering disease resistance in crops such as banana.

At the moment, she is working on the identification of a resistance gene in tomato that triggers a resistance response upon the recognition of a particular effector protein.

This effector protein has a shared homology with proteins utilised by other crop pathogens and opens up the possibility of using this gene to engineer resistance to a number of diseases.

Suzi is currently a student on the Plant Genetics and Crop Improvement MSc course.
