Sophie Bailey

Support Specialist

Sophie is one of the lead Phenotype Assistants at the John Innes Centre.

Working as part of a dynamic team, she ensures swift delivery of projects, focusing primarily on the collection, phenotyping, and analysis of both GM and non-GM wheat strains.

Sophie has experience working with strains from both antiquated collections and the recommended list, and plays a key role in every step of field trials, from the field, to the lab, and beyond.

Sophie specialises in grain size and yield, though also provides valuable insight to the Crop Genetics Department in areas such as pest management, sample identification, and management of scientific equipment.
