Kathy Stratton

Postdoctoral Scientist

Kathy works with Streptomyces venezualae and is studying how cell division is controlled in response to DNA damage.

During her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science, Kathy did a project in DNA damage response in E. coli, and worked with stress tolerance in rice during her year in industry.

Cell division in Streptomyces is linked to antibiotic production, so understanding the complex life cycle and regulatory mechanisms is an important step in antibiotic research.
