Sarah Wilmot

Support Specialist Archivist

Sarah’s role is to look after the John Innes Historical Collections and make them accessible to members of the public and researchers.

The collections comprise an Archive, a History of Genetics Library and a Rare Books Collection. These three interlinked resources are housed in the Library and may be accessed by appointment. Group visits to the Rare Books Room can also be booked.

Sarah undertakes research on the collections, answers public inquiries, and organises outreach events. Individual or group tours of the collections can be booked by prior arrangement with Sarah.

The collections cover the history of plant and microbial research and are an important resource for the history of genetics. In addition, the Rare Books Collection represents an impressive library covering natural science, horticulture and botanical art across five centuries.
