Billy Aldridge

Postdoctoral Scientist Genes in the Environment

Billy is interested in how the somatic nurse cells of the anther, the tapetum, support the development of the male germline.

He is using transcriptomics, at both a bulk and single-cell level, to explore novel regulators of tapetal development and their expression through developmental time.

He uses an array of imaging and genetic techniques to assay the effect of tapetum-expressed genes on the development of the male germline.

This work will give us a greater understanding of germline development, which ultimately underpins reproduction and the development of seeds.
