Andy is studying the impact of mutations affecting the accumulation of galactinol-derived oligosaccharides in pea seeds.

These compounds are associated negatively with consumer acceptability of pulse products.

Andy wants to understand how quantitative variation in oligosaccharides impacts on other seed traits: composition, storage and germination, as well as plant tolerance to desiccation.
