Aisling Cooke

Research Assistant

Aisling studies the evolution of symbiosis between soil microbes and plants by studying liverworts, primitive land plants that diverged from flowering plants 450 million years ago.

By comparing the genes required for symbiosis in liverworts with the genes required for symbiosis in flowering plants, Aisling can find out how the functions of these genes in symbiosis have changed during land plant evolution.
