John Innes Enterprise
John Innes Enterprise Ltd. (JIE) is the wholly owned trading subsidiary of the John Innes Centre (JIC) and is based at the Norwich Research Park.
The John Innes Centre is an independent, international centre of excellence in plant science and microbiology. JIC’s mission is to carry out fundamental and strategic research, to train scientists and to translate our findings for commercial exploitation and humanitarian organisations for the benefit of society.
In a 2010 survey, published by Times Higher Education, the John Innes Centre and The Sainsbury Laboratory were ranked significantly higher than any other organisation publishing the most influential papers of the last ten years in plant and animal sciences.
JIE undertakes Contract Research, Research Services and Consultancy using the Scientific staff and equipment infrastructure of the JIC. We aim to translate our technology and share our expertise through knowledge transfer.
Our expertise in plant and microbial science is focussed in applications within Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture, Living with Environmental Change and Healthy Ageing, and span the Agri-food and Industrial Biotechnology sectors.

John Innes Enterprise Limited, as part of its commitment to international outreach, has signed a formal collaboration agreement with the Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Berhad (MGRC). The objective is for the organisations to work together in the field of functional genomics and for Malaysian scientists to have increased interaction with the world-class scientific research undertaken by the John Innes Centre.
