BRIGIT project partners

BRIGIT is a consortium of 12 organisations across entomology, plant pathology, ecology, epidemiology, genomics, molecular biology and social sciences.

Listed below are the multidisciplinary collaboration of working group leaders and organisations in BRIGIT.

Program lead

Professor Saskia Hogenhout (John Innes Centre) is a Group Leader of the Department of Crop Genetics.

Saskia leads Theme 3 of the Institute Strategic Programme (ISP) ‘Plant Health’ and is Line Manager of the John Innes Centre quarantine Insectary. She has 22 years of experience in investigations of insect-vectored plant pathogens.

Working group leaders

  1. Dr Ana Perez-Sierra (Forest Research) is Head of Tree Health Diagnostic and Advisory Service and has over 20 years of experience in plant pathology (agriculture, horticulture and forestry)
  2. Dr Joana Vicente (Fera Science Ltd) is a Senior Plant Bacteriologist and a Visiting Academic at the School of Life Sciences, University of Warwick
  3. Dr Steven White (Centre for Ecology & Hydrology) is a researcher with 15 years research experience in mathematical and simulation modelling in population ecology, specialising in species spread, epidemiology and population dynamics
