Starch
mutants:
We
have been carrying out a selection for starch mutants in Lotus japonicus using
the iodine-staining properties of the leaves. Mutants have been
isolated that cannot make starch (in plastidial phosphoglucomutase, phosphoglucoisomerase, and ADPG pyrophosphorylase) and cannot break it down following
the dark period (in glucan, water dikinases). We are using these to study nodule function and agronomically important traits.
