B.napus Linkage Maps

We are involved in the development and long-term curation of genetic linkage maps for B.napus. These are being used for the study of a number of traits of importance in oilseed rape, as well as for comparative genomic studies.

Linkage maps of oilseed rape (Brassica napus)

We are involved in the development and dissemination of linkage maps for two publicly available B, napus populations: TN and Q.  The map for the TN population was originally developed as part of the EU-funded IMSORB project. The map and population have been adopted as reference resources by the DEFRA-funded OREGIN project. Working in collaboration with Prof. Jinling Meng of Huazhong Agricultural University, we provide public access to the definitive map.  Two versions are made available: a high quality map that is suitable for QTL analyses and a more extensive map that includes additional markers and is suitable for comparative analyses.  The map for the Q population was originally developed in collaboration with Monsanto UK Ltd. and is notable for an exceptionally high polymorphism rate in the C genome.  To contribute data to these maps, please contact Ian Bancroft.
