AMORN OWATWORAKITAmorn Owatworakit

I graduated with a master's degree in biotechnology from King Mongkutt’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand.  I started my PhD in the Osbourn laboratory in October 2005, supported by a Royal Thai Government studentship.  The title of my thesis work is “Radicle biochemistry: the function of root- specific metabolites”.

My challenge is to understand the relationship between secondary metabolism and root growth and development in oats using genetics and metabolic biology.  I am particularly interested in glucosyltransferases, since glucosylation is important for sequestration and storage of plant metabolites that would otherwise be toxic.
