20 March 2010: 10:00 Science in Norwich DayOpen to the PublicVenue: The Forum, Norwich Hosted/Organised by Dawn Barrett Family science discovery day; hands on activities, exhibitions and displays for all ages Time: 10:00 - 16:00 A chance to find out about what some of the 2700 scientists in Norwich do in a range of displays and activities from the John Innes Centre, Institute of Food Research, University of East Anglia, Inspire Discovery Centre and their Science Café, Bayer Crop Sciences, The Genome Analysis Centre, The Sainsbury Laboratory, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Teacher Scientist Network, and watch a science show from Science Made Simple at 11:00 and 13:30.
22 March 2010: 10:00 The Beagle Project comes to NorwichOpen to the PublicVenue: JIC Conference Centre Hosted/Organised by Dawn Barrett exhibition, displays and talks all linked to Charles Darwin's journey on The Beagle The Beagle Project – Monday 22nd March in the John Innes Conference Centre, Colney Norwich http://www.thebeagleproject.com/aboutus.html At 10:00 for Key Stage 3, from 12:30 for Key Stage 4 and at 18:30 for the general public The Beagle Project is building a modernised HMS Beagle and there will be a model of the Beagle, an interactive globe illustrating the voyage, exhibitions on Darwin and research students talking about their evolution related research followed by a talk from one of the projects instigators Dr Karen James from the Natural History Museum.

Showcase of Young ScienceOpen to the PublicVenue: The Forum, Norwich Hosted/Organised by Dawn Barrett PhD students from the Norwich Research Park talk about their research projects after an introduction to the topic by their supervisors. The audience gets to vote for who should get continued funding for their work! Showcase of Young Science The Curve, The Forum, Tuesday 23rd March from 12:45 – 15:15 Key Stage 4 & 5 A chance to hear from PhD students and their supervisors about their research and to vote on who should get continued funding! Each topic area will be introduced by the supervisor and then the students will talk about their project. Topics include Combating C. difficile in hospitals, Winning the war on tuberculosis, Being a purple tomato – the story of colour and health, How wheat combats disease and The stressful life of a food poisoning bacteria.
