JIC an International Research Centre

JIC is a dynamic, multinational community of scientists and students. Our reputation for scientific excellence is known worldwide and so we attract some of the best scientists and brightest students from around the world.

Our staff in Norwich consists of nearly 900 people, of many different nationalities, but our involvement in collaborative projects around the globe greatly extends the JIC community beyond the boundaries of the Centre and the UK .

The flow of visitors through the Centre brings them into contact with the cutting edge science at JIC, some times providing access to equipment and information that is otherwise unavailable to them. Equally, they introduce new ideas and techniques that influence the progress and direction of scientific developments at JIC.

For visitors and students from developing countries, access to training and the latest knowledge and technologies greatly assists the scientific programmes in their home countries.

There is a very active seminar and lecture programme at JIC that helps share knowledge across the site, but perhaps the main areas for generating new ideas are where personal contacts are made in a relaxed atmosphere - the cafeterias and the bar.
