Introduction

Metabolic Biology carries out research into fundamental aspects of plant metabolism in the broader context of plant biology.   Major challenges are to understand how plant metabolism changes in response to environmental stimuli and to investigate the mechanisms underpinning metabolic diversification.  

Research within Metabolic Biology spans biochemistry, cell biology, computational biology, molecular biology and genetics, working with both model and crop plants.  Collectively these activities provide a foundation for the development of sustainable agriculture and bio-based industries.
